This page is for companies that sell parts, tools, software, financing, marketing or services to plumbing companies. The numbers come from 336,257 contacts who got a first cold email from one of 20 Sales.co campaigns between March 6 and August 31, 2026, with replies read on October 9, 2026.

What happened when real estate and construction contacts got cold email

There is no plumbing row because no campaign of ours targeted plumbers alone. The figure comes from the real estate and construction bucket, which mixes general contractors, trades and property companies. Treat 0.69% as a rough bar and track your own replies from the first send. Of those 87 interested replies, 1 became a booked meeting, which points at the follow-up as the step to plan.

How many plumbers you can reach

Plumbing shares a Census code with heating and air conditioning: the 2023 count is 111,207 plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors with paid staff in 2023 (NAICS 238220), so the number is larger than plumbers alone. Our plumbers file holds 23,832 contacts across all 50 states and DC, counted September 3, 2026. With the HVAC contractors list the two reach 59,206, about 53% of the Census figure. Some firms do both trades and may be in both files; we have not counted how many.

How to run it, step by step

  1. Start with one state. California gives you 3,632 contacts and Texas 3,196. Done is a file for one state.
  2. Run the file through the free list cleaner before sending. With 50% of addresses on free mail, typos and dead Gmail accounts are the first thing to remove. Done is a cleaned CSV.
  3. Write to the owner about one job: drain calls, water heater swaps, parts on account, scheduling software or job financing. Keep each email short. Done is three emails under 80 words each.
  4. Call back the same day a positive reply lands. 99.8% of records have a phone number, and in our construction data 87 interested replies became 1 booked meeting. Done is a time on the calendar or a no.

A worked example, with the numbers

This applies the positive reply rate above to the whole list and to one month of the $2,000 plan, with a 95% range around 87 positive replies from 12,547 contacts. It assumes the list behaves like the real estate and construction contacts in our campaigns, and three emails to each contact.
