Outsourced GTM engineering and GTM engineering as a service (2026)

Updated October 11, 2026. Vendor facts read October 11, 2026.

There are three ways to outsource GTM engineering: an agency that runs the outreach for you, a consultancy that builds the system and hands it over, and a freelancer paid by the hour. Of ten agencies whose sites we read on October 11, 2026, five run it for you, two build and hand over, two offer either, and one sells something else. Sales.co runs it for you at $5,500 a month.

Sales.co publishes this page, so read it with that in mind. The ten are the agencies named most often in the list pages that rank on Google for GTM engineering agency queries (how they were chosen). The model column is our reading of what each site describes; the next column quotes the site.

An agency that runs it for you

Five of the ten do this and nothing else: SalesCaptain, Understory, Growth Engine X, DevCommX and demandDrive. ColdIQ and RevPartners do it as one of two options. The agency builds the list, writes the messages, sends them and reports. What differs is the channels (channel table) and what you keep if you leave. Growth Engine X states that domains, inboxes, Clay tables and lists are transferable. Understory says it will train your team and hand over if you want to run outbound in-house. None of the five publishes a price.

Sales.co is in this group. One package at $5,500 a month covers signals, list building, email to the whole market, and cold calls, ads and LinkedIn to the highest-intent accounts, with replies answered in under 10 minutes.

A consultancy that builds and hands over

The GTM Engineering Company and The Kiln work this way, and ColdIQ and RevPartners offer it. The GTM Engineering Company publishes three monthly tiers from $5,000 and describes a typical engagement as a 3 to 6 month retainer at roughly 5 to 10 hours a week. At 52 weeks a year, $5,000 a month for 5 to 10 hours a week works out to roughly $115 to $230 an hour. RevPartners sells a Clay Implementation at $25,000 over 90 days. ColdIQ's agency site describes a 90-day build after which you own the system. The Kiln takes custom projects and publishes no price.

This is the better pick when you have people to run outbound and no system for them. You end with the Clay tables, CRM fields and workflows in your own accounts. Sales.co's page describes outreach run for you and no hand-over of that kind.

A freelancer

None of the ten is a freelancer, and we did not read freelancers' own sites. Two sources give hourly rates: DevCommX's salary post, dated September 1, 2026, lists $80 to $200 an hour for a US freelancer or contractor and says the model suits project-based, short engagements. Sloane Staffing's guide, dated July 9, 2026, says independent consultants command $150 to $300 an hour. At $150 an hour, $5,500 buys about 37 hours a month.

FAQ

What is GTM engineering as a service?

It is GTM engineering bought as a monthly service instead of a hire. On the sites we read, the phrase covers two different things: an agency that runs the outreach for you (SalesCaptain, Understory, Growth Engine X, DevCommX and demandDrive, and Sales.co), and a consultancy that builds the system in your tools and hands it over (The GTM Engineering Company and The Kiln). ColdIQ and RevPartners offer either. Sales.co publishes this page, so read it with that in mind.

Who owns the work when GTM engineering is outsourced?

Ask before you sign. Growth Engine X says all work is transferable to the client, including domains, inboxes, Clay tables and lists. ColdIQ says it builds in accounts the client's company controls. The GTM Engineering Company builds inside the client's own CRM. Sales.co's page says the client owns the data. Five of the ten do not say on the pages we read.

What does a freelance GTM engineer charge?

DevCommX's salary post (dated September 1, 2026) gives $80 to $200 an hour for a US freelancer or contractor. Sloane Staffing's 2026 guide says independent consultants command $150 to $300 an hour. Neither is a freelancer's own rate card.
