CONSULTANTS AND ADVISORY FIRMS

Lead generation for consultants, run for you from $1,000 per month.

This page is for a consulting or advisory practice buying outbound for itself. Two very different firms search this term. One is an independent consultant or a three-person practice, where the person who would take the meeting is also the person delivering the work. The other is a consulting firm of roughly twelve to eighty staff with at least one salesperson, buying capacity the way a software company buys it.

The second is a normal outbound client for us. The first often should not hire anybody, and that includes us. If you deliver personally, a full pipeline becomes a scheduling problem, and a retainer paid during a delivery-heavy month is money spent on meetings you cannot take. Our comparison of lead generation companies for consultants and agencies works through that in full.

If you do have someone to take the meetings: Intent Takeover is $1,000 per month, up to 1,000 high-intent leads with 5+ touches each, month-to-month, no setup fee, sending in seven days.

WHY THE EMAIL IS HARDER TO WRITE HERE

When a software company hires us, the email describes a product, and the prospect is judging the product rather than the writer. When a consultancy hires us, the email is a claim about how one person thinks, sent from that person's mailbox.

So the email has to carry a specific problem you have already solved for a company like theirs, in detail only someone who did the work would include. A capability list does not do that. We write from a call with whoever owns the practice area, and you approve every sequence. Copy written per prospect gets 3.2x the reply rate of templates in our campaigns.

We would rather send four hundred emails you can stand behind than eight thousand you would not have signed. That decides the plan.

TARGETING

WHO WE TARGET FOR YOU

The title depends on the practice, so we start by asking what you sell rather than which industries you would accept work from.

OPERATIONS CONSULTING

COO and VP Operations, usually at companies past the point where the founder still runs the floor.

FINANCE AND FP&A

CFO and controller. Below roughly 300 staff the CFO is the only finance title worth writing to.

CHANGE AND ORG DESIGN

CHRO and VP People. Slower to reply and more likely to forward you internally.

TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING

CTO and VP Engineering, with head of platform or head of data where the budget sits a level down.

FOUNDERS AND OWNERS

Under 200 staff the founder is often the whole buying committee, and a short email there beats a long one to a function head.

NO NAMED VERTICAL

The hardest list to build, and we will push you to pick one. A campaign aimed at every company that might need a consultant reads like it was aimed at nobody.

PLANS

WHICH PLAN FITS A CONSULTANCY

INTENT TAKEOVER — $1,000/MO

This is what we recommend, and it is our cheapest plan, so we are recommending down. A consultancy can take a handful of meetings a month. TAM Takeover would put 20,000 light touches into the market and produce replies nobody has time to work, and warm prospects go cold in an inbox.

Intent Takeover picks up to 1,000 accounts most likely to buy now and touches each 5+ times. That matches a firm with one or two people who can hold a first conversation.

WHEN TAM MAKES SENSE

Only with a real sales function and a market broader than a few hundred named accounts. TAM Takeover is $2,000 a month, TAM + Intent $2,500. Most firms on this page need neither.

If your market is 400 firms, no plan should send 20,000 emails a month.

CHANNELS

WHICH CHANNELS CARRY WEIGHT

EMAIL

Included in every plan, and the channel that lets a specific researched claim land in full.

LINKEDIN — +$1,000/MO

Worth adding when your name and writing already exist there, because the profile does work the email cannot.

COLD CALLS — +$1,500/MO

A phone-led programme is $2,500 a month all in. Sensible when the engagement is six figures and the buyer expects a voice first.

ONBOARDING

THE FIRST 30 DAYS

Taylor, our onboarding specialist, owns the setup and the sequence is fixed.

WITHIN 24 HOURS
SLACK AND THE FORM

A shared Slack channel and the onboarding form covering your practice area, offer and targets.

SAME WEEK
INFRASTRUCTURE

We buy the sending domains and set up mailboxes. Your firm's main domain is never used for cold sending.

BEFORE THE CALL
EXCLUSIONS

You send the companies we must never contact. For a consultancy that list is long: clients, past clients, referral partners, anyone a partner is courting.

KICKOFF, THEN LIVE
FIRST CAMPAIGN

We walk the plan with you, you approve the angles, the first campaign goes out, and weekly optimization starts from real reply data.

HOW CLOSE THAT IS

Testimonial Hero is a video testimonial production service selling to B2B marketing teams. It is a services business selling a delivered engagement rather than a product, which makes it the closest published campaign we have to consulting work. It is not a consultancy and we will not call it one.

We have no published case study for a consulting or advisory firm. The other two are a laboratory instrument maker and an alternative-investments platform. See customers.

FAQ

CONSULTING OUTBOUND QUESTIONS

Should a solo consultant buy outbound at all?

Often not. If you deliver every engagement personally you have room for a handful of new clients a year, and first meetings compete with the billable hours that pay for them. Outbound starts to make sense when the referral flow has stopped growing and somebody other than you can deliver. We sell outbound and we still tell people this, because a client who buys at the wrong stage cancels in month three.

Who writes the emails when what I sell is my own judgment?

Our copywriters, after a call with whoever owns the practice area, and you approve every sequence before it sends. The email has to carry a specific problem you have solved for a company like the one receiving it. A capability list will not do that job. Copy written per prospect gets 3.2x the reply rate of merge-field templates in our campaigns.

Do you have a list of companies that hire consultants?

No, and nobody does. Hiring a consultant is not an attribute you can buy in a database. We build your list from the vertical you name, using our email lists where one fits and waterfall sourcing where none does.

My practice has no named vertical. Can you still build a list?

We can, and it will be the weakest campaign we run for you. We will push you to pick one, because the vertical is what makes the email specific. If you serve several, run the one where you have the best story first. Adding a second segment later costs nothing extra on the same plan.

What titles do you target for a consulting firm?

It depends on the practice. Operations consultancies get COO and VP Operations. Finance practices get CFO and controller. Change and org work goes to CHRO and VP People. Technology practices get CTO and VP Engineering. Under 200 staff the founder is often the better target than any function head.

Can you slow the campaign down when my delivery calendar is full?

Yes. Tell your account strategist in the shared Slack channel and we narrow the target list or pause sending. Billing is month-to-month so you can stop and restart, though the infrastructure works better at low volume than going dark and needing warming again.

Do you have a consulting case study?

No. Our three published studies are Cytena, a laboratory instrument maker, at $700K pipeline growth, Testimonial Hero at $85K, and Alts.co at 250+ leads. Testimonial Hero is closest, because it is a services business selling to B2B buyers, but it is a video production company rather than a consultancy.

What does this cost and how long am I committed?

Intent Takeover is $1,000 per month and it is the plan we recommend for a consultancy. It covers strategy, list building, enrichment, copywriting, domains and mailboxes, warmup, software, reply handling and reporting, with a dedicated US account strategist. No setup fee, month-to-month, cancel anytime.
