Free email list cleaner: what it does and how to use it
Updated November 6, 2026. Every page cited here was read that day.
The free Sales.co email list cleaner takes a pasted list and removes duplicates, invalid entries and second copies of one Gmail inbox. It flags typos and role inboxes, then sets your free-mail share beside the 36.5% median of our business lists, based on 688,330 addresses. It costs nothing and your list stays in your browser.
This page explains the feature for small business owners and marketers who are cleaning a list before a send. The cleaner itself is here; it opens with a sample list, so the first view shows a real result. It is free, and our business email lists are $295 one time if you need a list to clean in the first place.
Quick picks: what are you doing?

|---|---|---|
| Remove duplicates and bad entries before a send | Email list cleaner | It handles capital letters, Gmail dots and +tags, and bad shapes in one pass |
| Catch throwaway signups | Disposable email checker | It matches up to 50,000 addresses against 10,143 known throwaway domains |
| Guess one person's work address | Email format finder | It ranks every format by use across 125,187 company addresses |

How to clean a list in five steps
- Open the cleaner and paste your addresses, one per line or a whole spreadsheet column.
- Choose what goes. Do-not-email inboxes (noreply@, postmaster@) are removed by default. Role inboxes and free-mail addresses are optional.
- Press Clean the list.
- Read the counts: duplicates removed, invalid entries, likely typos, role inboxes and your free-mail share. Fix any typo by hand, because the cleaner shows the likely fix and leaves the address as typed.
- Press Download CSV or Copy. You are done when the kept count matches what you expected and the typos are fixed.
What each check does
| Check | What it catches | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Exact duplicates | Owner@Firm.com and owner@firm.com | Second copy removed, capital letters ignored |
| Same Gmail inbox | jane.doe@gmail.com and janedoe+promo@gmail.com | Second copy removed, Gmail addresses only |
| Not a valid address | tom@ridgelinehvac (no domain ending), spaces, characters an address cannot hold | Left out of the cleaned list |
| Domain typos | gmial.com, yaho.com, hotmial.com, .con | Flagged with the likely fix |
| Role inboxes | info@, sales@, office@ | Flagged, removed only if you tick the box |
| Do-not-email inboxes | noreply@, postmaster@, abuse@, mailer-daemon@ | Removed by default |
| Free-mail share | Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, iCloud, Comcast and others | Shown as a percent of unique valid addresses |
A worked example
The sample list in the box has 14 entries. The cleaner finds 1 exact duplicate, 1 second copy of a Gmail inbox and 1 invalid entry, which leaves 11 unique valid addresses. It also finds 1 typo (gmial.com), 3 role inboxes and 1 noreply address, which it removes. That leaves 10 addresses in the cleaned list. The free-mail share is 3 of 11, or 27.3%.
Why the free-mail share is worth reading
A free-mail address on a business list is normal in some trades and rare in others, so the number needs the right comparison. Across 688,330 addresses in 45 Sales.co lists, counted between September 3 and October 21, 2026, the median list is 36.5% free-mail and the pooled share is 35.6%. Tattoo studios sit at 78.7% and financial advisors at 4.3%.
| List | Addresses on file | Free-mail share |
|---|---|---|
| Tattoo studios | 6,387 | 78.7% |
| Hair salons | 39,163 | 67.7% |
| Plumbers | 23,832 | 50.1% |
| Roofers | 24,758 | 42.8% |
| Dentists | 44,420 | 36.5% |
| General contractors | 40,849 | 31.3% |
| Accountants | 22,932 | 17.4% |
So 50% free-mail on a plumber list reads as normal, and the same figure on an accountant list is about three times the 17.4% we count there. Every industry is in the tool's table. To compare sellers, see the best B2B email list providers.

FAQ
Is the email list cleaner free?
Yes. It is free with no signup, and it reads up to 50,000 lines at a time.
Does my list leave my browser?
No. The cleaner runs in your browser, so the list you paste stays on your device.
What is a good free-mail share?
It depends on the trade. The median of our 45 lists is 36.5%, with tattoo studios at 78.7% and financial advisors at 4.3%, counted between September 3 and October 21, 2026. Compare your list with its own industry.
Should I remove role inboxes like info@?
That is your call, so the box is off by default. A small local business may only publish info@ or office@, so removing those can cost you the only address that reaches it.
