How to find a format in four steps
- Open the finder and type the first name, last name and company domain.
- Pick an industry if the company has a clear one, because the ranking changes by industry.
- Press Find the format. You get 14 addresses ranked by share, each spelled out for that person.
- Verify the top address before you send. You are done when one address passes your check.
The formats, ranked
These shares come from 125,187 unique company addresses with a first and last name, from a random sample of 200,000 of 3,995,157 records in the Sales.co contact database, counted November 4, 2026. Free-mail addresses are left out.
| Rank | Format | Example | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | first | jane@ | 31.3% |
| 2 | flast | jdoe@ | 25.6% |
| 3 | first.last | jane.doe@ | 23.7% |
| 4 | firstl | janed@ | 2.2% |
| 5 | firstlast | janedoe@ | 1.7% |
| 6 | f.last | j.doe@ | 1.2% |
| 7 | last | doe@ | 1% |
The top three cover 80.6% of addresses. The 14 formats together cover 88.8%, and the other 11.2% matched none of them.
A worked example
Type Jane Doe and example.com with All industries selected. The finder returns jane@example.com at 31.3%, jdoe@example.com at 25.6% and jane.doe@example.com at 23.7%, then 11 less common patterns down to doejane@ at under 0.1%. Those three are the ones to verify first.
Why one colleague's address beats a ranking
Among the 2,987 companies with 3 or more addresses in the sample, 64.5% used one format for all of them. On average, a company's main format covered 87.9% of its addresses. So if you can find one person's work address, copy its pattern. The email extractor can pull one from a company page or an email signature.
What it costs
The finder is free. To compare paid data sellers, see the best B2B email list providers. Our done-for-you service starts at $2,000 a month and includes list building.

Is the email format finder free?
Yes. It is free with no signup, and it runs in your browser, so the names and domain you type are never sent or stored.
Does the format change by industry?
